just tell me if they'll grow here.
does anyone grow siberian or spuria iris in texas?
Spuria iris are terrific in the Houston area, so I think they'd be good for you, too.

leslie, where do you get yours?
Good morning, I have both and they do great here in the Dallas area
phyllis where did you get your spuria? and do you do anything special for the siberians?
Sorry to be late in replying. I order mine from Comanche Acres Iris Gardens at www.comancheacresiris.com. I got my first ones from the Bulb Mart in Houston many years ago, but this is not a dependable source (some years yes, some years no). I've ordered twice from Comanche and been satisfied with the iris. I frequently donate it to local area plant sales or give it away. It's a really great, trouble-free plant. No insect or disease problems in the Houston area. It sometimes sulks for a year or so after being moved, but the newer ones don't seem to do this. It does require good drainage.

well leslie do you ever trade those spuria you got? lol. i am thinking of ordering from comanche myself this year. but lmk if you have any to trade.
mamajack, The spuria was growing in someones yard so a friend of mine stopped and asked if we could have some and the siberians I've had for ages. I think I got bulbs from a catolog. I just put them in the ground. nothing special.
thanks phyllis. i have just heard that sibs like it moist but i figure if you can grow them in hutchins i ought to be able to as well.
I don't trade iris, but gladly give some of my spurias away, especially the old-fashioned purple/blue ones that spread more vigorously than the others. The best time to dig them is early fall, but I've never tried to send them via mail to anyone. I'm leaving town shortly for several weeks and won't be checking this forum. Best to send me D-mail which I might get eventually.
Leslie
