when bad things happen to good plants

San Antonio, TX(Zone 8b)

a neighbor just ran over my front mailbox and my Cycad taitungensis and my "our lady guadalupe" and "greetings" roses and my oldest and bigest queen palm. I need help. Can the palm be saved (its been knocked to a 45 degree angle and is proped up in the pictures). The C taitungensis hit hard as the bumper hit it on one side. HELP!

the queen palm is just propped up in this picture. It will stand on its own at a level no greater than 45 degrees. Is it a dead now?

So sorry that happened! Hope you can nurse the plants back to health. Plant in the pot can be repotted, but the palm? I have no idea, maybe someone has experience with palms can give some suggestion.

How does someone hit that many plants... my goodness, I hope you can help them recover... and I'm so sorry this happened to you, I'd be heart broken...

Sorry about your plants--I'm not sure if I'd be heartbroken or furious (most likely both!) Has your neighbor shown any willingness to pay for the damage they caused? I don't know enough about palms/cycads to know if they're likely to recover or not, but with the queen palm I'd worry that if you get some wind it could blow over and damage something else (like a person walking by on the sidewalk, or a car parked in the street) and then you'd be liable for that damage. If you get an arborist out, they might be able to do some stakes and cables to hold it up better if they think there's a good chance of recovery.

The cycad will probably survive as long as you keep a secondary fungal infection from killing it. The queen palm will most certainly survive... some people, on purpose, knock theirs over to a 45 degree angle (Queen palms take a lot of abuse) and they will then grow upright from there, making a quirkly looking palm.

When comes to good news, positive happening. I'm all ears. Best of lucks to you. You've been more than patience and calm during the advert accidence. Bless you and yours.

What a shame!
Just by looking at the photos, it looks like everything will be OK. You should repot the potted plant before the roots dry out, though.
