CLOSED: extreamly large crow

Groton, CT

I live in eastern Ct near the RI border. Please don't think I'm insane. I have some large maple trees with hollowed out trunks and there are many sqirls living in them. There is a very large crow that comes to feed on the sqirls from time to time. This bird is huge. Standing on the ground it is just under 4 ft from top of head to the ground. the beak is about 6 in long. when it spreads its wings they are about 12 feet from tip to tip. the body shape resembles a fisher crow, except that its a giant. It doesn't come around very often, just a few times a year. There are two stuffed crows like it on display at an old public library just around the corner. They were killed a very long time ago. They are also smaller; one standing around 3 ft and one about 2 ft. So I can prove these birds do exist. I can not find any info though as to what they are. It's very stealthy and silent and leaves quickly if it sees you. I also have an eagle that likes to sit at the top of an 80ft spruce tree in the yard. The crow chases the eagle away when they are here at the same time.

Does anyone know anything about these birds?

any chance of getting a photo of it? That would be your best evidence and provide a visual for possible ID.
