Contemplating purchasing a Brug; are any shade tolerant?

Auburn Four Corners, PA(Zone 5a)

Hello all!

I have some questions about Brugs, and am hoping I came to the right place! (It certainly looks that way).

I have two places that I would like to plant a brug; one in full sun in a garden in Northeastern PA; the other on a partially shaded deck in the Poconos. Since I'm pretty much a first-timer, I was wondering if you all could recommend varieties that might be particularly good for each of those spots -- specifically: one that is easy to bloom; one that is shade tolerant. I am partial to the single, trumpet-shaped flowers, and like the white varieties (or pale pink or yellow).

I've been looking at the auctions on eBay, but read a thread here about false varieties being offered there (I ran into the same thing, btw, purchasing Daylilies on eBay earlier this season).

Any advice would be appreciated!

Abutilon is from Pennsylvania. She would know what does best under the conditions you have specified. You might try sending her a D-mail.

What is the difference between Brugs and Datura other that direction of blooms.

Thanks, bettydee.

mayniac69, I'm a bit of a novice to this plant family, but I know there are some species of Datura that are pretty weedy and can be serious barnyard/farmland nusiances. Brugmansias are exclusively tropical, I believe, and not hardy enough to become weeds in NORTHERN STATES . . . also, I don't believe Daturas reach the small tree-like proportions of Brugsmansias, but I could be wrong.
