Hey everyone,
I'm posting here because I wanted to know if there's anyone that has sebastopol geese and lives in Southern California. I recently hatched 5 goslings from top sebastopol breeders that I ordered in the mail but I can only keep the females and I believe (because of the coloring of their down) that the 3 of the goslings are males and I'm trying to find them an exceptional loving home.
They are being raised inside at the moment and they are 3 days old. They are, of course, extremely loving and friendly :-) I am not charging anything for the 3 goslings but I will not ship so I'm trying to find someone locally that can provide them a home. I live by San Diego and will drive up to an hour or two to deliver them but again I am not willing to ship.
Hope this forum as some So Cal sebastopol owners that can provide them a home. I will be adding pictures soon. You can contact me via monacoplc1@aol.com.
Thanks,
Marcela
SEBASTOPOL GOSLINGS :-)
Adorable! I wish I lived closer to you! I have a single Seb gosling and it would like a friend. How do you know from the color that they are male? I am just curious because it's my first Seb. I have no idea what gender it is. If you don't get takers here, you might try backyardchickens.com because they have a sale/trade/give-away thread for non-chickens (i.e. ducks, geese, quail, etc.)
Hi Cmoxon,
From what I was reading about sexing sebastopol geese, the down color of the females are a lot darker than the males when they are born. If you look close in that picture the gosling in the middle has really dark down and the other two babies are very light. Now that they are 3 days old I can see the difference even better....she is very very dark compared to the other 4 babies so i think she's the only female.
Also thanks for the link to the other site. Fortunately I think I found a breeder that lives close to me through eggbid.com so hopefully that works out and I won't need to ship them :-)

Thanks! Very interesting....so my seb has very bright yellow down, so I guess it is probably a male then. I would not call it dark down and it's not like the one in your picture at all, which has a sort of brownish tone to the down. I'm glad I know the difference now!
I'm glad you found someone close by!
