Here are a few pictures of some of our chicks that have hatched recently.
I love this one. These are Birchen Cochin Bantams. One is the mommy hen and the other is sitting on eggs. Somehow they ended up in the same nest with a baby between them. Both Birchens hatched a variety of eggs. Most full size standard chickens.
Here are some chick pics. Will post more later.
This was the first set of babies to hatch. They are now about 3 months old and we believe we have 2 roos and 1 hen out of this mix. Definately 1 roo and 1 hen, the other is a toss up but looking more like a roo. The mommy is a Silkie. The babies are Silkie Birchen Cochin mixes. The mommy Silkie sat on eggs again and now has another baby that is about a week old.
Oh that first picture is just priceless! How cute is that!!!?? I can't imagine how safe and secure that lil baby must feel.. just darling. I love chicken pics..
great chick pictures! I love the cochins too. I especially love their feathered legs and "bowling ball" appearance. Love the splash one - so cute! Quackers is adorable as always.
Hi Smedge!!! I think I remember you from the forum before, but could not remember if we'd ever spoken. How long were you gone? Love those pic's the first one is just to cute. I adore that little sebright. I have one sebright banty and she is just alittle pistol. Anyway I wanted to welcome you back and say Hi. Hay
They are so cute when they are little, even the roos, and then they start crowing, lol.
We arn't sure how many roos we have yet but I'm sure they will let us know soon enough.
Haystack, I've been gone for a few months, since about January I think it was. Enough time for 20 babies to hatch :)
Thanks for the welcome back, it is good to be back!
I'll post more updated pictures soon. They are all growing so fast. The baby inbetween the two mommies in the first picture is now feathered and on its own with a group of other babies. I was lucky to get that shot.
Very cute. And I love Quackers!
These two we call Zip and Zap. When the mommy hen decided it was time to leave them we tried to put them in with the other babies their size. The feathered one does fine because there are two others that look like it, but, the one without feathers they peck on like crazy. So we call it Zap because it keeps getting zapped and then zip just fit for its sibling. We have put them in a seperate pen that is right by the others hoping they will get used to one another well enough so we can put them together again without them picking on Zap too much. Poor thing just kept begging me to take it out so I couldn't resist. With so few feathers they were sure to peck it bald.
What kind of a duck is Quackers?
We arn't sure what kind he is. He has the coloration of a white and fawn runner duck but he does not stand up straight like they do, maybe crossed with something else.
And he's got that knob on his head, so whatever kind of duck has that, he must have some of that in him. Whatever he is, he's a beaut!
