grazeo

Del Valle, TX

I have a chance to get some cheap haybales like from last year but they said they used graze o which the cows eat but I don't know if it is safe for vegetables! Any one know the answer?

Sounds like you're talking about Graze On, a type of weed killer it appears, from a quick google search.

Better do some more research and/or ask an agronomist or local Ag Ext. agent about this.

This is why I went with the straw bales instead of hay. My supplier said that the hay was treated with a weed killer. I have no idea if it is harmful but I would rather not take a chance. I try to be as organic as I can and bale gardening seemed to be the perfect solution.

Helen: I wouldn't risk it, either.

Oh My Gosh! Inever knew that! I thought Hay was a feed source and safe! I never thought that it would be sprayed with something to kill weeds and still be safe to feed animals!
Oh Oh , Digger could that be why you broke out so on your arms afr getting your Hay???? Maybe you need to contact the one you got your bales from and ask!

The six bales i've got planted now wasn't sprayed as I know the people and they don't spray so it was safe. This next seemed like such a good deal $3.00 a bale so asked them and they said they did spray so am not going to buy those--also read and if I understood these articles they said the manure isn't safe either so what do you all think? By the way my haybale garden is beautiful and if can figure out how to post pictures of it I'll will...
