I've noticed these type of spiders crawling around my home on Long Island. I would like anyone who has knowledge of spiders to help me identify what type and if they are poisonous if bitten by one.
what are these spiders and are they poisonous?
This appears to be a fishing/dock/nursery web spider (family Pisauridae), possibly Pisaurina mira - see http://tinyurl.com/dbnrat; scroll down to the second image. Although large specimens can deliver a painful bite if mishandled, their venom is not particularly potent, and they are not dangerous to humans.
