Tillandsia?

mazatlan, Mexico

I bought this plant about two months ago, not knowing what it was, and planted it in a pot in soil. I just got around to asking the Plant ID Forum for help in identifying the plant, and was told it was a tillandsia. Now that I've done some internet research, it looks like I shouldn't have planted it in dirt. Is it too late to save it? Thanks for any help.

Hi Nazzo, I don't think it looks too unhappy. Some Tillandsias don't mind being planted in dirt. You could try removing it from the soil and tying it to a pice of wood with some string or plant wire, or glueing it with a cold, water based, wood glue. They don't mind bright light (but not direct sun) and need good air circulation. They don't like to be 'Cold and wet' at the same time, but in Mexico, does that ever occur? You could maybe put some sphagnum moss, or something equivalent around the roots (if it has formed any) to keep moisture in until it adheres to the wood/mount.
