OFF advertisement

Gilmer, TX(Zone 7b)

Is anybody else having a problem with the "OFF" clip-on advertisement at the top of the home page (and this page)? When I log on it pops up and covers the first three or four threads and I can't read them. Is there a way I can make it smaller or turn it off?

I would also make sure you have ads turned off in your preferences. (my info > my preferences > ads). It could also be some adware that has infected your computer so you might run spybot or something similar on your computer. If it's not adware, I'd also post a message on the Dave's Garden forum or d-mail admin. It sounds like something that should not be there. Dave has a rule about no moving ads but Source Media let one get through once before and Dave remedied it.

Hello Twbmoom,
At the top of the main page you will find a box that says, my info, click on my info and it will take you to your home page, to the left of your home page you will see a line that says, manage your preferences,
click on that line and it will take you to another page where you can choose what you want to see.
On the right hand side of that page there is a box titled, my tools,
in that box is a line that reads, ads, click on ads and it will take you to a page where you can choose which ads if any you want to see.
I hope that helps, I know it is complicated.
Josephine.

Success! Thank you SO much. It was a very annoying thing.

All right!! I know what you mean about the ads being annoying when you don't want to see them.

This one was definitely a moving ad. It dropped down onto the screen and had mosquitoes buzzing around all over it.

Oh, I hate those kind that block what you want to see! I'm so glad we can block ads here.

that add was making me crazy! it was so annoying! then i remembered that i have a really big mosquito problem so i went to the site- it is pretty interesting! they have some new little battery run thing to wear on your clothes to keep away the bugs (well the mosquito bugs) and a coupon for buy one get one free--plus info on keeping them away --
but i still hate those buzzing bugs on my screen!!!!

Follow Frostweed's instructions above and it'll take care of the "bugs" on your screen. It worked for me!

well i will have to work up to it! computers and i do not always get along--when someone else says it is easy -----well -----------it turns out it is never easy for me!

Gilmer, TX(Zone 7b)

Believe me, Linda, if I can do it you can do it! I just did each step like frostweed said and it was gone. I'm just about as computer "illiterate" as they come.

If you go out to DG without being "logged in" you will see the ads also. So keep that in mind when you reboot or sign out.
I am with you Linda...glad we have that option! I don't think I would spend as much time on DG if I had to put up with the ads all the time. I get enought of those on yahoo home page!
