Birth of a Hummingbird
Thanks irish!
Your welcome.
You forget how tiny they are with those pictures - that size comparison shot really helps put it in perspective. wow
Amazing pics.
I thought so too. Right now we have 7 Hummers and hoping for more. Sure wish I could get some pictures. It seems I am never at the right place/right time.
Do hummingbirds have a "favorite" tree or shrub. I think it would be wonderful to see a nest. I have several hummuers buzzing around now. I love to watch them. Seems like they came a little later than usual. They must have wanted it to Warm Up first.
hummingbirds prefer to build their nests from 5 to 15 feet above the ground, gardeners will want to plant shrubs or trees that will meet those heights at maturity. Selecting ornamental trees such as the Tulip Poplar, Flowering Crab, Horse Chestnut, or other flowering trees will meet these height requirements, and their blossoms will provide nectar for the hummingbirds and their hatchlings.
Sorry, I forget where I got this from.
Very interesting. We have woods behind us and we know that is where their nests are. Haven't actually seen them though.
