Hi Caren!!! Is that El Paio?

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

I could be, its one I got from Kathy Ann maybe 2 years ago??
Is that a Colocasia?

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Yes!!!

Are Yall doing OK after the weird weather we've had this year in our state?

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

The bad stuff stayed to the north of us so we are still in need of some rain lol! How was it over your way?

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Same here but I'm not complaining after seeing what Fla. got last week.

Gainesville, FL

Somehow, that just does not look like Elepaio to me. I could very well be in error, but, I do not believe that Elepaio (aka Milky Way) has any aureo-variegation. I think it is all albo-variegated. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

You plant more closely resembles Colocasia 'Yellow Splash' to me.

This is a bit of my Elepaio

And this is Yellow Splash, which has quite a larger variation of markings on any given leaf

Do you think it could be Mickey Mouse?

Gainesville, FL

It could be a Xanthosoma Mickey Mouse that isn't twisted, or, it could be a variegated Xanthosoma saggitifolia. The stems are striped, right (I can almost see that in the pic). Both those have striped stems, and the leaf does look more Xantho than colo to me actually

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

The stems are striped but defiantly not Mickey Mouse I do have one to compare it to.

Yeah it looks more like a variegated X sagg

Caren, I never passed out any of the elepaio I don't think it was big enough to divide. I did pass out the yellow splash I also had the variegated sagg. but don't remember passing any of it out either.

I think you might have the splash there, and my splash looked like that, someo f them even came up solid green.

Gainesville, FL

A lot of the Yellow Splash will come up solid green. I try to weed those out and keep only the variegated ones together in a clump. The green ones I transplant elsewhere. But, the green ones can throw variegated pups at any time that I then salvage, LOL

Central, LA(Zone 8b)

Gorgeous plant by any name!!!!

South West, LA(Zone 9a)

Maybe that is why the pups are more variegated than the mother plant which is almost solid green. Thank you

Judsonia, AR(Zone 7b)

Gothqueen, I had heard that about the yellow splash. Wish they were all the variegated ones though LOL

Gainesville, FL

Yes that one tends to revert much more easily than any other patterened EE I have ever had. The Alocasia macrorhizza albo-variegata will also throw all- green leaves but not nearly as often as Yellow Splash. But I have to say, I have had some WILDLY patterened specimens of Yellow Splash pop up in my plants.
