I have three cherry trees, one a mature 3 variety one, one a three year old different three varitety one, and one that came from a friend about 15 years ago as a seedling from her Queen Anne tree. Two years ago we had a decent crop, though my birdwatching hobby forced us to share quite a few. Last year I had a set, but a few weeks later the sets started drying off and I barely got any mature fruit. Can someone tell me what might have gone wrong?
Also the Queen Anne tree blooms nicely but has never set at all. Any ideas on that?
Thanks. Sharon
Questions about fruiting cherry trees
Hi Sharon you may need a pollinator like a Rainier for your Queen Anne Cherry. You may have had a pollinator somewhere in the woods that isn't doing the job anymore for some unknown reason.
Linda, I am pretty sure I have at least one Rainier on one of the three-variety trees, though I will have to check to make sure. Guess I should research which pollinator is best and see if that might be the problem. Not tonight, though, as it is past my bedtime.
