Well I am really pleased with this the allium, siberian iris and long since finished poppys.
Theme - Going for the Gold!
Think I should have covered the metal holder a bit more thoroughly or painted it gold to match?
Hi Candee, What a Beautiful arrangement! Love the purple and gold colours together.
Everything you sprayed turned out really lovely, you must have used a whole can of spray paint?
The leaves look fab too! Stunning design with good height and shape!
Great idea for a new theme, your going for gold is going be hard to beat, LoL!
Thank you! and I can't wait to see everyone try this one! now where did I put my spray paint...?
I agree about the metal holder, but to be honest I didn't notice it until you pointed it out!!!
Thanks Terri - actually didn't take much spray paint at all. I have been using the same can on the birdcage for several years and on one other piece that we have. Just a few waves over those allium and they were transformed and same for the poppy pods.
Can't wait to see what you and everyone else design, got that thinkin cap on already I am sure!
The leaf idea you inspired particularly as I never work with leaves much and you and your oils all work wonders, I am too lazy for the oil, it was easier to paint them and then crop them.
Looks like you had a successful dig my friend!
Bumpin this so somebody gets busy with going gold. Where is everybody?
What a niffy find!!! you'll just have to arrange something in it. LoL
I am thinking if it fits into the vase MeeMum gave me I might try an underwater arrangement.
Nothing like being ambitious :)
I think I will have some fun experimenting.
Can't wait to see it. That is quite a nice bargain you got!
Hello Dianne, got any gold????? gold dancing shoes?? lol I'm sure I spotted some golden flowers in your garden...
Great find dalfyre! Looking forward to seeing what you make.
Like it! Usually the frog is covered up with leaves or stones but in this case.... we are going for the gold! Well done dalfyre!
told you I was new at this :) Not to mention blonde ;)
... didn't know that I should or even how to cover up the frog but have had some good suggestions so next time will try hiding it.
This is so much fun!
Blond here as well dalfyre LOL! Terri will tell you I have my moments! But the frog is gold and it is the gold theme so no need to cover it up.
Hey Terri that is dazzling, that is the coolest vase I've seen. Where do you find that stuff?
Thanks Candee, I saw the vase in one of the shops on the High St, thought it was quite unusual. For once it wasn't a junk shop find... lol.
It is a pretty vase, Terri. Now the question is, is there a liner or small tube inside to hold water???
Not junk shop - but treasure shop!!
There's no small tube inside or anything, it has given me quite a headache actually! The neck is very thin.
In the end I wrapped the glads in cling film and put a drop of water in there.
Well you are the clever one. It is quite a unique piece, would look great around our place.
I have a new acquisition from the local Sally Army shop...
I went looking for vases or bowls & spotted a large glass swan.
Ok so it isn't any use for floral work but I love it & it cost me a whole $7.00.
I am making a habit of paying them a bit more than they ask since it is a charity shop.
Still cheap at twice the price.
Hubby hasn't noticed it yet.
He won't mind especially when I spent so little on it.
What a great swan - and an incredible deal to boot.
Goes nicely with your collection of animals.
Now that I see that it reminds me of one we used to have - so many years ago I can't recall where we got it nor where it has gone. Thanks for the memories! Lovely wedding photos btw!
I am hoping the swan dates back to the 1970's...
I vaguely recall seeing them back then.
but it may be a more recent Chinese knock off of Murano glass.
I don't know how I ended up with a collection of birds but I guess they fit in with my love of gardening :)
One draw back to a June wedding in NZ is that it is the middle of winter & not much in the garden.
And the other draw back is that it was freezing!
Hubby was nice & warm in his kilt but I had a sleeveless dress & the mean photographer made me take my 'fur' cape off for most of the pics...
when he saw my cape my Step dad asked "how many plastic rabbits died for that?"
Now that's a sparkler. Did you spray that twig as well? I really like it, BTW what are honesty pods?
I didn't think you had sprayed it, it fits in perfectly.
Honestly, I have never heard of an honesty plant. I know what a pod shell is just never heard of that plant. The ballet dancer is fabulous, what a great combination of texture and movement.
I tossed Honesty seeds around my garden...
am paying for it years later.
They are weeds here!
I did get some unusual variegated ones - and I saved seed from them...why?
Because those seed pods are so pretty.
But good grief they are so invasive.
I think I will be weeding them out forever now.
Oh but I do like it!
