Ever felt like you were being watched?

Liberty Hill, TX(Zone 8a)

I have never visited this forum before but I posted this picture on the Texas Forum and somebody suggested that I post it here. I just happened to see this little guy in the tree. I have no idea how I was so lucky to spot it considering it really blended in. I think it is an Eastern Screech Owl, because I did see an adult and it was really small. I also have been hearing a noise that sounds like a snore or a whistle but could never find the source of it.

Wow! I guess that means you didn't see a nest anywhere around then.
So, somebody...is this a Screech Owl fledgling then??

This is the little that I know. They nest in holes in trees and this one had 2 siblings that were elsewhere in the tree. I can't find them today though, I saw them this morning and then they were gone. It was there for 4 days so I should be thankful but I miss them watching me while I watch them. Does anybody know how old it is? It is only about 3-4 inches tall.

I was looking at it compaired to the leaves and realized how really small it was. that was so exciting. I think the Cornell site does bird sounds too. I'm gonna go check out what I can learn about your little Screecher.

Found them again. I think we found their main tree a much taller oak. We saw 5 total 2 adults and 3 fledglings. I now realize they have been watching us a lot longer then we have been watching them. I'm just surprised that they picked a tree that is so close to the house, I guess the pet peacock (Petey), the guinea birds, the chickens, the house wrens, and the mud nest swallows let them know we are bird friendly. After looking at all the other threads I guess I'm going to add this forum to my favorites. I'm no expert but I do enjoy the birds.
