Spring 2009 Monarch Migration Map

Cincinnati (Anderson, OH(Zone 6a)

Hi, Butterfliers,

How 'bout telling us when you spotted the first Monarchs in your yarden this spring (2009)??

I saw our first one checking out our baby tropical milkweeds last week, around May 21. Can't find any eggs, though.

FYI Journey North posts an interesting interactive Monarch Migration Map: http://www.learner.org/jnorth/maps/monarch_spring2009.html

Anyone else? t.

Beaumont, TX(Zone 9a)

I have not seen any Monach adults but I spotted several cats on my milkweed on April 15.
Over the next coulple of weeks I counted a total of 11.

Still waiting for any in my garden. So guess it'll be late summer or fall for that...hopefully, when they head south.

Well, at the museum we never really stopped having caterpillars except for a few weeks in January-February. At my house, it took a little longer. It was early April when the first round of egg-bombing took place. We had more frosts this year than usual and I had to cut the milkweed down to the ground and wait for it to come back so that probably effected the time table.

I have started seeing a few around here, but it's usually June and after that they really come in any numbers.
