Help with cuttings

New York, NY(Zone 6b)

I just received 2 cuttings of Selenicereus Testudo. It was supposed to be sent with rooting powder on it, then I would know what end to plant. What will happen if the wrong end goes in the soil?. I will await your answers. I did check for an answer before I posted here. Thanks. This is a learning experience.
Thanks, Ivy.

do you have a picture of the cuttings? We might be able to tell.

I did have one cutting of a Dragon fruit that I planted upside down. It grow air roots on the top a year later after it had not put on any new growth-the light dawned on me and I turned it over and now it is putting out new growth. LOL

It is taking awhile to get the photo because I had so many pictures from a Macy's flower show. I hope I get this right. I have 2 photos.

I agree with wren....because the nubs along the side seem to be growing up...or towards the right....on the top cutting anyways...I'm not sure about the bottom cutting.

It came out of the wrapping that way. But it was with 5 other plants, Epi.Phyllanthus var., Hawaii and Ambrosia so the rooting powder must have rubbed off. Today I thought that I would pot my cuttings and rotate my plants so that everyone benefits from the grow bulb that is hanging above.
Thank you everyone for your replies.

Testudo I have stuck it in upside down, just laid it on its side and gently pushed it so it was in good contact with soil, and planted it the right way. I have and have not used rooting powder. It grew like that weed in the middle of a cacti patch.
