thanks Haystack

thanks sewincircle checked the incubator this morning and had two more.
Congrats! I am really beginning to appreciate just how special this is...
Impressively successful hatch! What breed(s) are they?
wow!!! chicks coming out your ears!!! hehehe Thats awesome.
thanks guys and not sure the breed. the guy i got them from had different types mixed together.
just put 3 doz chicken and 2 doz duck eggs in the incubator now all i need is some quail and geese eggs.
Thumb!! What will you do with all those chicks? For eggs or sell babies? Also is that bator a commercial one? Looks like it. And can you explain why the shelves holding the eggs are slanted? Thanks Haystack
hay Haystack going to sell some chicks but trying to get about 200 hens for eggs but the main reason it for winter heat in my greenhouses. going to build a run down the long side of the greenhouse plastic it in and let the heat from the chickens go into the greenhouse, and i will sell the eggs.
and yes it is a commercial bator, i use to raise emus with it. the shelves are slanted for turning, it has a auto turner and will slant the other way when it turns, that way i don't have to. lol " whitebear"
Love your setup!
Different breeds of ducks have different incubating lenghths. Mallards are 25 to 27 days. Muscovie are 35 to 37 days. I don't know about other breeds. I have an ancona hen I'd sure like to get a drake for but haven't found one. I may borrow a muscovie from a friend for her.
thanks Melissa_Ohio and CajuninKy i have about 4 doz Muscovie in the bator right now. and i just hatched out about 25 little ones this morning. if i can find my cameras cable i'll take some pics and post them.
Can't wait to see them. Ducks are at their cutest for the first 2 weeks. Then they start to get gawky.
sorry CajuninKy i mint baby chicks the duck will be in about 3 weeks more.
I'll still look forward to the pics. Chicks stay cuter longer. LOL
What breed of chicks are those little yeller fellows? Very cute. That bator is jam packed. Do you have a separate hatcher?
buff orpingtons and a few new hampshire reds. and have a wooden box with a light bulb keeps the temp around 98 or so and i put them in there for a few days.
A very handsome group!
thanks "porkpal" thats about half of the bigger ones and i have about 80 6 week olds and about 30 quail so far.
How big is your coop? I am so envious....
16 x32 right now but i am moving one of my greenhouses and going to cover it with chicken wire so in about a week they will have a 30 x 80 run and i can put shade cloth on it to keep them cool in the hot summer
Will you sell eggs? That's a lot of chickens.
I just love what you are doing, but I could never keep up with it all. Thanks for sharing all those great pic's. Your doing a great job and I wish you great success. Haystack
That incubator gives me a big smile.. LOL
Wow.. 30 x 80
Paradise!
hay "CajuninKy" yes i will be selling eggs. i have two cafes in town that want as many as i can sale them. "Haystack" thanks for kind words. and it is hard to keep up with it all but it keeps me out of trouble. lol . hay "ZZsBabiez" yeah they are going to love it.
whitebear
Can you incubate them all together?
hay catscan yes the temps for each type of egg is only off be .2 to .3 degrees so they should do fine.
