Planted the pepper 4/26 in HEBucket with your coir - I'm like a little kid at Christmas!
Hey, BocaBob - check out my bell pepper in coir!
WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fantasic looking peppers. Go coir !!!
Bob
Nice! I also see some ripe Cherry Toms in the back. Yum!
Ray - yeah, those cherries don't make it to the fridge! We tend to snack on them right off the vine. Have also harvested 4 "Goliath Bush" tomatoes (so far). Not bad, considering they were planted early April in MG mix, BEFORE I started playing with Bob's coir.
Don't want to sound like a groupie, but being from MI, it totally amazes me to get visible peppers in 3 weeks (!) from a scrawny Wal-Mart plant.
Still experimenting with the "coir" cuke behind the pepper (I've never grown cukes - outside OR inside a screened enclosure) and can't get a definitive answer from Bonnie Plants on whether that variety is self-pollinating. I now recognize the male & female flowers, but during our recent monsoons, I can't even get out there to help pollinate.
(you guys have created a monster....)
Beautiful peppers! My coir peppers and stringbeans, although planted late, are also showing remarkable growth as are my melons. It has been raining so much that I've not been outside plus my post polio is starting to take a negative effect of my leg muscles and having a difficult time walking on anything but a smooth sidewalk. Lose my balance easily on the lawn and now use a cane when working on the lawn area. Thank goodness for earthboxes and BocaBob's watering system. Don't think I could go around watering everything if I had to?
Tplant - I hear you about rain, I had to take that picture between showers. Fortunately, my screen house is half open/half under cover, so "regular" containers (of non-veggies) have been moved under the roof before they float away.
As I'm using liquid fertilizer in the coir, I'm a bit concerned about missing their "feeding" in this heavy rain. But I figure I have the luxury of dragging them under cover for a day or so & fertilizing then...
I'm kinda making this up as I go along...but it's sure fun!
I have been without telephone and internet service since last Tuesday as a lightning strike damaged our line. The repair service man just now left and at last things are back to normal. We've had very severe thunderstorms
