I'm in zone 8b. I have 2 large live oaks anchoring my front yard that keep spredding and thus increasing the shade in the front. I am loosing grass due to the shade and am thinking I need some other ground cover. I am considering putting the climbing hydrangea next to the live oaks to climb and using additional plants (hydrangeas) as ground cover. There is only filtered light but I have a sprinkler system and could rock the front of the area and dramatically amend the soil slanting up from in front of the trees towards the house. Any thoughts, suggestions as to the amendments, anyone that has tried this ?
