I'm wondering if that might be Brighamia insignis.

I had one at one time....stuck it back in a corner one winter during the mad rush to bring in plants....forgot to water it:(

I do recall that they require bright light and rather high humidity.
They're very susceptible to spider mites.

They are a pretty tricky plant. Endangered in Hawaii, they were mass-propagated a few years ago and sold widely, but most of those died due to the wrong growing conditions. That included mine :-(

It is a Listed Endangered plant from sea cliffs of Ni'ihau and Kaua'i.

Grow it in well drained soil which is rich in humus. Mist it a few times a day.
