The wind is wrecking havoc!!

Savannah, GA

We had a few days of heavy rain, some wind and heavy rain, now just wind. Rain is in the forecast.

My tomatoes are caged and staked but a couple of them are leaning heavily. I think they are leaning as much as they are going to though. My beans look whipped. Some of the leaves are actually dry and crunchy. My squash is sideways but it looks like nothing had broken so far. I doubt the pollinators have been out lately so I am guessing the latest squash blooms will be unfertile and fall off.

Are my plants going to recover? I am thinking of starting a second crop of beans, maybe squash. I may put tomato suckers in where my onions are after I harvest them.

I dont' want to overplant and have a bunch of crowded crops though. What to do, what to do . . . .

We have so much wind here that we had to put up a wind break. Your tomatoes will be fine as will the squash. I'm pretty sure pollinators can fly in the wind(we have honeybees here even on windy days), so your squash might have fruit. (Rain? what is that?). The beans, well, I've lost a few beans to brown crunchy leaves but the worst thing I did was over water them to compensate for the wind.
Hope this helps.

Great, today the rain is back. There is about 4 inches of standing water in my yard/garden right now. It's supposed to rain till the end of the month. I have to remind myself that it rains in the spring here a lot (at least it used to before the drought) and people still grow stuff.

It's pretty boggy back there though. I have 2 raised beds, next year I will have 2 more I think. That will give me a little more insurance against inclement weather.

This is a CRAZY weather year here in Atlanta. COLD so far, wet, WINDY - just nuts. Especially after 2 years of record breaking heat and drought.

Send us the rain. We've had two inches of rain since January and it's been warmer than usual.
I garden in modified raised beds, 5000 sq ft., I love them.

My yard has been totally saturated for days now and it's still raining!! My garden was heavily mulched and it's rotting, you can smell it. I have some huge tomatoes though. At some point things are going to start dying. I can't even fill pots with dirt in an attempt to save some tomatos by rooting cuttings. I may just plant more squash and beans. I will have to harvest onions soon because I think they will rot. They seem to be bulbing anyway. I have some bunching onion seeds that I may plant in that row. We have a long growing season here so maybe I can get a second crop.
