I hate to rain on your parade, but a few years back I also got a truck load of fresh horse poop, and for the next three years I had the biggest bumper crop of weeds there ever was. From that point on I decided I would only buy stuff in bags at Menards or Home Depot....

Gloria, what Deann said! Do yourself a favor and immediately fill those beds with Preen. It should help keep all those weed seeds in the horse manure from germinating. Horeses eat mostly weeds. :) If it were me, I'd Preen then mulch thickly.

Same here. We had a strawberry bed at our last home. (where we could actually grow strawberries and there were not deer in the yard every second)

Any way, DH got a load of pig poo. Oh my. We had the biggest strawberry plants and biggest strawberries you ever saw! But weeds!!!! Oh my, The weeds were terrible. You had to stay on top of them every day, or it would take hours to weed the bed.

I feel for you, shoveling is hard work. But you will have beauties ahead for sure!
