What do you think of these twangers?

Did you start this from seed? Or is it a noid cutting? Love the size of those tendrils!

Hi, Betty! It is a noid cutting... I have a lot of those! I have some named but mostly noid's. Almost all of them had tags in the beginning... I have very few that were noid's when I got them. It's the pits wehn the tags fall off in the bubbler. I don't use a bubbler any more, but the first year I got cuttings I did. I did not know the importance of a good tagging system and many of them had arrived with tape, paper and other flimsy things that just fell off!

I've had that happen to me too, but my biggest problem is having the ink fade over winter. So I have a number of noids now, too. Now, I use metal tags and Dynamo labels, but I have to make sure the tags are close to the trunk in case the labels fall off as one or two have done. If they fall, they'll fall into the pot.

Good idea! I use cut up venetian blinds and paint pen, punch a hole with the hole punch used for paper, and plastic ties used for computer cords. It is a really cheap way to do it. I use these same tags just stuck in the pot for seedlings.

I used some of that green plastic tape for tying the plants to the stakes last year for name tags. I used sharpie on them and they are still readable even the ones that got left out all winter. Those silver paint pens work really great on all colors of pots especially the black ones.

Someone sent me some cuttings labeled like that and they faded in my greenhouse. I don't know what kind of pen they used though, but I was told sharpies would fade. That is why I got paint pens. I don't use them for anything else.

Sharpies will fade!!! Especially in the greenhouse. Maybe it's the moisture. That is why I have so many noids. I've tried using the Sharpies on the cuttings themselves, but the ink beads up. Some cultivars have what could be dormant nubbies all over and writing on them is impossible, at least for me. I've tried to get a black paint craft pen, but our Wally World doesn't have them. The paint pens we use to number the livestock tags are too broad. I have found that metal plant stakes and aluminum Dynamo labels work best for me. I've only had one or two of the labels come off the stakes and those fell in the pots. If I lose the plant I can reuse the stake with a new label.

Betty,

Did you loook for the paint pens in crafts?

La Grange, TX(Zone 8b)

Yes, I did. Our Wally World is a small one. I'll have to stop in Bastrop to look for one next time I'm in town. I have to wait until I need a number of things before I go to Bastrop though. :-)

Awwww, "Twangers" -- that makes me miss ZZ!

Where is ZZ? The blooms are open, and I will take pics later this evening when they are fully open

These are not good pics, but here goes... I did not capture the coloration except for the one that is out of focus... LOL actually they are all kind of out of focus...

Better of the color... Reminds me of Frosty Pink except my other frosty pinks do not have the extra long tendrils...

The tendrils are curved to the back now...
