Hey ya'll... from Gainesville, FL!

hi there from gainesville. g'ville is in the north central part of the sunshine state and the home of the univ. of fl Gators. although most of my friends here say that they bleed 'orange and blue', my blood runs GREEN! I'm recently (four years) transplanted from miami where I grew up surrounded by tropicals and sub tropicals. needless to say, my first 'winter' here was a shocker! now, ya'll
from northern climes don't laugh... but I was not prepared for winter's "magic" on so many of my green friends. and I'm still quite happily surprised when most of them return in the spring.

I love all things 'florida native' and I'm into pond gardening... algae and all. I've enjoyed and appreciated Dave's Garden for years as an information source so finally decided to gift myself w/a subscription as an early birthday present.

well... thank-you Herbie, it's nice to be here. I've lurked on these DG forums for a while now and just decided it was as good a time as any to wade into the waters. might have to set some kind of timer for myself though...I can see how this might become a bit 'habit forming'.
