crowder peas

Southern Mountains, GA(Zone 6b)

Do I have to stake crowder peas? I have a nice row doing well but not sure if they will do alright or need staking for easier harvest. Thanks.

Most cultivars are bush. Even a vining type I will not stake, but then I am lazy.

Thanks Dill, I was pretty sure you would have the definitive answer to that. No staking, I have enough to do already.

so,does than means i dont have to stake 'Wando' peas? will they be ok without a stake/

Southern Mountains, GA(Zone 6b)

Wando is what is know as an "English pea" . It will do better staked. Crowders are Southern pea/beans, not the same thing at all. Check with your seed source if possible to find out the requirements for Wando.

I don't stake mine and they were happy.

Reminds me that I gotta plant some. Soil has been cool here though

Hi BB! Same here.
Off topic...The Weather Channel called for 44 here last night and I had 38. Tonight they are calling for 38 so I would be surprised if I don't have a frost. I covered my tomatoes and peppers and am hoping for the best.
