this is my first year growing potatoes. I had been doing a 12x12 cornfield that I am reducing to roughly 12x6. the other half i put a 12' row of red pontiacs, a row of onions and have roughly a 12 x 2 row I think I may be able to get sweet potatoes in between onions and corn. From reading posts, sweet potatoes need some room and a good size hill. everything else is in the ground -not leaving much dirt to hill up. will they be successful in mounds? and how big do they actually get? the bed is a clay/peat/compst mix.
