EB Cherokee Purple is a monster! Had a few nice limbs break off. Trying to tie them as best as I can do.

Ray, I'm curious about the way your Ebs are oriented. I planted 2 cucumber seedlings at either end of one Eb, with 3 pole beans between them. I have noticed that the cucumber nearest the watering tube has produced better than the one at the other end. I'm wondering if this is because of moisture issues or sun, as the one nearest the water tube is also the west end, so gets a bit more sun. Both plants are the same size, but the one on the far end has aborted more fruit.

The gardeners trimmed my 25ft. loquat tree 2 years ago. Ruin fruit production last year and this year. I used to get hundreds of fruit, now I'm only getting dozens :( I still love the taste, one of my favorite fruits.

All of my EBs are west facing. They get about 6-7 hours of sun. I wish they could have more but our stupid neighbor has useless trees growing. If they would thin them out a bit I would get another hour or 2.

Anyways back to your question...

Your cukes will have roots dangling in the reservoir like mine do in no time. I'd bet its a sun and pollination problem. What soil are you using?

Cucumbers are my least favorite thing to grow. I've had good success this year with them but next year I'm only gonna grow "Divas"

These are some real mouth watering pics. You are doing real good, man!

As are you Jerry! Been watching your Tomato thread. Looks like you are having a pretty good year.

Ray: Are those tomatillos I see in one of your pics? Those veggies look great, good job.

It's probably just not being pollinated properly. Give it some time and I bet the bees will find it. You can also take a Q-tip and do it yourself in the meantime. I had to do that all last year. Thankfully this year there's a lot of bees around.

Santa Ana, CA(Zone 10b)

Thanks Ray. It's not like I need more cukes...I am just curious as to why 2 plants, 2 feet apart would behave differently. I had lots of bees a few weeks ago, but the population seems to be dropping off a bit now.

Oceanside, CA(Zone 10a)

Aint that the truth Carol....once the cukes start coming, it's easy to be over run with them. I just went out and picked 3 more this morning.

What is that in your Hillbilly has gone nuts photo?

Hillbilly Tomatoes. The pic below the one you are referring to shows the whole plant. They're a Bi-colored beefsteak with potato leaf foliage. Here's another pic of some Hillbilly's forming...

Ray: Yum beefsteak, my kind of tomato, that is the one I mistook for a tomatillo. LOL Your veggies all look great, is that huge green pepper a California Wonder kind? I love bell peppers and had to take a sneak peek in between rain drops outside and my bell peppers are forming perfectly in my EBs. I saw a rather large green tomato in one of my grow buckets though and it looks black on the bottom, not up where it would show BER at the steml but the other end, maybe it's dirt, I hope?
joy

Oceanside, CA(Zone 10a)

Yup, that is a Golden California Wonder growing. It's probably the biggest I have grown, it's literally the size of a softball. I walk by it every day and just laugh at it. It looks like a small melon. I hope it ripens before the bugs find it :)

If it's BER you'll see the darkness grow rather fast. You'll know if it is or not in a day or 2.

Here's another big pepper....

I love seeing all your gorgeous veggies. What are those yellow cards in your peppers? Is that some sort of pest-catch system?
Lise

Oceanside, CA(Zone 10a)

Yup, they are whitefly traps. It doesn't stop them all but it helps in my battle against those dreaded pests.

Ray: You have beautiful peppers amongst all the other beautiful veggies. I just hope my peppers turn out that well.

Today was a good day :) Here's what I picked this morning...5 Zucchini, 1 Patty Pan Squash, 2 cukes and a bunch of beans. Also about a dozen strawberries.

I can't believe these Bush Beans. They are machines! By far the most productive beans I've grown. This is the 5 harvest about this size off of only 12 plants in a EB. I gave my neighbor half of what I had so I actually picked twice as much as pictured. Plenty more to pick too.
