I have just returned from UK and one of the birds I miss from there is the Magpie. This one is in the grounds of an Hotel and Restaurant where they filmed the St Trinians Films - in the 50's. In Windsor on the bakns of the Thames, the weather was beautiful and very springlike. But I am glad to be home in the hot sun again!
Thanks Resin!
Thanks dellrose!
irisloverdee, I love the mockingbirds! Love all the sounds ( which makes me smile alot while I'm working outside) and the antics!
seemama, Wish we had magpies here, There so pretty, From what i understand, They are pretty bold too! Thanks for sharring the photo!
Brown Thrasher..
Beautiful pics Iris!
Thanks pelletory!
Iris, My son is in SC, so I have been there a few times, and you do have those wonderful flying lemons (goldfinch). Yes the magpies are bold, we eat Lamb rather than beef and I would throw the leg bone out in the garden where the magpie would sit on it and not allow any other birds to share, they also like shiny things, and would take piece of foil to their nests. But here we have lots of Cardinals and Mocking Birds, sometimes I amazed at the beauty of birds, it just makes my day to see them.
Magpies seem very interesting and I really wish we had them here! I like 'bold birds'! I really enjoy seeing and hearing the birds each day, Makes my day too! :)
Beautiful shots, Iris. I love the Thrasher and the Mockingbird.
Thanks MargaretK! I love them too and always enjoy watching them!
Did you know that the English robin is much smaller than the American and has a different personality, I would be on my hands and knees weeding and the robin would sit nearby - waiting for me to dig up worms and throw them to him. My neighbour had a bird table - but the robin would not eat the bread and stuff - he would sit on the fence making a lot of noise - demanding his cheese. She always gave it to him!
