This is one of my crosses that is blooming for the first time so i have no idea what color it will be however i am really liking what I see so far. Just take a look at the tendrils developing on this baby! They measure in at just under 3" long. Whatever color she turns out to be my bet is that it's going to be a really nice single.
Painted Lady x Peanut - a new seedling of mine
Six tendrils are unusual but not uncommon. Certain breeders are trying to breed cultivars that produce all six pointed blooms. It does not ruin the general shape of the blossom. It does change it a bit. Most cultivars that produce six pointers produced them very infrequently. This seedling seems to be following that same pattern. The other 3 blooms that have dropped skirts are all five pointers, not six.

Very exciting. I will be staying tuned :)
Could I ask you a question re tendrils please ? ...about 6/7 weeks ago I had many hybrids (purchased just over a year ago ) suddenly all start throwing 6 tendrils ...why would this happen ...to me it was really weird ...one of the plants also threw many "shredded blooms" and continues to do this ...I just presumed it was the weather or something, I do have one plant that is almost always throwing the 6 tendrils ...any explaination for such behaviour? these are all strong healthy plants ...I was told it is just because the plants are "young" but they did not do it until they had had a few flushes of normal blooms.
To be honest with you I have no idea why six pointers are thrown by some plants. I would assume that some genetic factors are involved. A mutated gene that pops up unexpectedly, periodically.
On a lighter note, just how far are you from that nuclear power plant? lol!!
Looks like it will be pink....turning pink as it's beginning to open.....:)
Do you have an updated pic? Six beauuuutiful tendrils! ♥
Lovely.. my seedling cross from you of this should be flowering soon also... and knowing it will be different is exciting..
Ahhhhh! Looks promising!
