The frog won this round!

Gosh that was so sad when the frog was crying! Bad snake! Glad he got away although he may not have survived. :(

I was certainy rooting for the poor frog BeaHive! Hope he escaped to live without harm. Doesnt the snake's fangs grip the prey when attempting to swallowing them? I did not see any piercing of his skin (what little one could see...) What amazes me is the photographer being in the right place at the right time! But the frogs strong and large legs certainly stopped the dinner!

I don't understand how the photographer could just watch and keep filming. Of course I was rooting for the the frog, have a fear of snakes, but the Mothers insticts in me would have grabbed the snake and spanked him until he let that frog go!! Well maybe not..yuck! I hope the frog was OK! I don't know what I would do if I found a snake in my pond! I try not to think about it!

That frog looked to be about the size of my frog Big Mama. Here she is ..what a beauty!

Good heavens! Your frog wins first prize for size BeaHive! Does it actually live in your pond and now wander away? I have frogs/toads??? visiting but they share a couple of other ponds nearby! Wish they would make this one their home as I love hearing their croaking at night! Whats the actual size of your beauty? Any tadpoles?

Big Mama has been in my pond for two years. The rest seem to come and go. Counts seem to be down this year and it is making me crazy. I had so many bull frogs and Pacific Tree frogs when I first put in the pond in Nov 2007. This year I only have about 5 regulars. I did find frog eggs and watched them grow bigger, but once they hatched I was not sure if they are still hiding in the pond or in the bellies of my Koi.
I sure hope some of them made it. I too miss the croaking. My daughter complained that they were making to much noise that first year.
Happy frogging!

PS. Not sure if you saw this post of the Adventures of Big Mama and Melvin. You may enjoy their antics.

What a delightful story BeaHive. Thanks for sharing! Wish lots of little ones could read your story with the pictures! The one with Momma Frog gazing at the fairy is Calendar Quality! I'm printing it out and sending it to my little GC. Thanks again!

Thanks Hope your GC enjoys it!

Oh no! Based on BeaHive's post, I'd better not watch the video.
Not to mention, we're on dial-up, so I would be anxious the entire
time not knowing if the poor frog got away safe.

Thanks for sharing!

Wuvie..it was aweful..but he gets away. I do not think you would enjoy this video as a member of Save the frogs! Crying baby's are hard on my heart and now crying frogs!

No, no, no crying frogs, thanks for letting me know, LOL.

WOW, That was hard to watch but fascinating. The photographers interference is what drove the snake into the water. Which lead to the frogs escape. Trying to figure what happened when the snake finally let go looked like maybe a fish of something came up at the snake. Hard for me to tell. The frogs at my small ponds have been very active we have tadpoles in one of the ponds.
