Violet Club at my house last night

South, TX

I hosted our Violet club meeting last night. We had a great time. 10 people in all. We looked at my back garden, sunroom and violet room. Was nice to talk about many plants. We then ate our dinner. I made a layered Mexican dip and Pan de Palvo cookies and someone brought an ice cream cake. Someone else brought veggies. I had lemonade, mint iced tea, cokes and water.

We then had our meeting and then I had the project after that. We have never done a craft so I did one! I had ordered some beads for leaves and flowers that are hard to find, then I went to a bead store with LOTS of great crystals. I pre-made the swirly bead holders. They all made the charms and put them on. I also had angel wings and dragon fly wings so there were lots of pretty charms made.

Here is what we made.

Hi Sally ,

The charm is lovely , nice job , I was wondering is the plant it is on Lonestar Lady , when I clicked on the pic that was the name I saw , it isn't the same plant as I have seen at the AVSA site with that name , so maybe 2 by different people ?

Sally: It sounds like you had a great club meeting at your house! I'm curious ... what are Pan de Palvo Cookies?

Your AV photo is lovely, as always and I Love the charm! What a great idea for dressing up AV's as well as other plants ... sure wish I was crafty!

What girl doesn't like jewelry even to decorate their violets? What fun for everyone.

Sally, sorry I missed the meeting at your house. I had to get up at 4:15 yesterday morning so I couldn't come Monday night. Great picture of Lonestar Lady......isn't that the plant that Jim was looking for? I will have to go back and read his thread. Sorry I missed out on the fun.

thanks Phoebe - will look into it!

I just followed your link and am very excited to find out that my county (Burlington) is having their annual show and sale this Saturday within walking distance of my home! So I will be able to meet the local AV people, and maybe treat myself to a new plant or two - maybe they even sell leaves.

Thanks so much for the link!

gessiegail, I think about you often - you sent me a mini hoya - possibly marlea? and some sort of rhipsalis cuttings a few yrs back - both are doing well, the rhip grows like a weed with hardly any effort!!

Viostrep, my Lonestar Lady is young. She is changing her leaves slowly.

Gail, sorry you couldn't come! Yes, that is the plant he was looking for. I don't have another, but I told him when she grows more I can give him a leaf.
