Bob, what was the name of the plant that you gave for the prize drawing?
Charlene

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Sandy, the bag of plants I sent for you didn't get delivered to you. Sylvia will bring them to Jacksonville this weekend. From there, we will ask Linda/Alyce--you know, Smockette (LOL)--if she can take them back to you. If not, I'll bring them home and save them for you till fall.

Iola, TX(Zone 8b)

I do not remember the name of it Charlene, but it was good... Hehehe!! Bob let me nibble on one of the leaves...

Seguin, TX(Zone 8b)

I remember him saying it was a walking stick kale...something about people letting them get real tall and they would make walking sticks out of the stem or something to that effect.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Bob, do you think it's too late to transplant that big tomato to a bigger pot or is the pot it's in big enough for it to stay in?

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Thanks Kim, you were right, it is a walking stick kale.
Charlene

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Well, just remind me that I am bringing plants back to Sandi! I'll get to talking & forget to ask you about them. I'm already bringing plants to Eyes fr Marilyn.
As long as I don't fill up Smock's truck too much, it isn't a problem. lol

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

There are about 10 plants, but they're all in a small grocery bag. It should fit in a little crevice somewhere. Thanks so much! I'll remind you.

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

I'm bring a flat tray of plants she left here & wanted me to bring to Jax. Are possibly some of these for you? Don't know what is in it but I made her label all of them.
:~)

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

Smockette you made me?? Wow my arm hurts where she hurt me twisting it to label them rotflol

By the way it is Sandy not Sandi.....I am not going to post Smokette oh Darn I just did. hehe.

I just got home from Smockette's yesterday. I had a wonderful time staying from 1:30am Sat till yesterday around noon. Smockette is such a Gracious Hostess and I felt very much at home at her house.
I had a Great time staying with you Sis Tah!! Boy it seemed so much farther home than it did coming there. I came back the same way. The heat did not help but traffic was good.

pbtxlady I am not sure what we were trading I will look it up and let Smockette know if I left any that were what you wanted. I don't mind shipping yours if you would like. I will check and come back here and post. :o)

I had a Great time seeing everyone sorry I can't make it this weekend but I really tired myself and my back out with this one. But the fun exceeded the work.

See ya laters....

Blessing,
Sandy

Dallas, TX

Patti I am going to cut the tops off those tall things before they kill the roots.
Sandy and Charlene those EE was partially rotten, I will try to pick you up one at HD!
Marylee how will a picture tell you any thing its just two tiny small leaves ... do you have more? You can mail them to me in a envelope ... I will send you PP envelope. lol
Sandy what do you mean you didnt get home until yestetday? Were you on vacation or something? lol

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, you're talking about the toad lilies, right? Don't cut them! They go semi-dormant in hot Texas summers. If you cut them back now, they will devote their energy to starting over on the foliage, and they won't bloom in September. Don't worry--the leaves will not kill the roots. Probably dynamite wouldn't kill the roots. :) If you could give them a squirt of water this week, that's really all they need.

Sandy, I don't keep track of what I have coming in, but I don't know of anything that you were supposed to send me. When I went back over the thread, I could only find a couple of things from Kim, which Sylvia has. So we're good to go.

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

Sylvia, my white cactus orchid leaves have a different look from the pink ones. White ones are mostly wide and flat. I hope it was the pink ones I gave you if that's what you want because I don't have many left.

Goldthwaite, TX(Zone 8a)

Pattie, I have your plants from Kim and some pots from a couple of people.

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Great, Pat, thank you!

Dallas, TX

No ... Marylee, mine are not flat. Pink is good, do these only bloom at night?
Patti I think I got something for you too.

this is a pic of a plant someone gave me in Arlington. its a furry leaf, I got two of these need to know what they are. :)

Slyvia, for Pete's sake don't go buy an ee for me! I absolutely don't want you to do that. I don't even remember asking you for one.
Charlene

Garland, TX(Zone 8a)

Who needs EE's--Charlene? I have these that I got from Sheila last June. Dunno what kind they are (solid green), but I planted a big clump and this year they have spread out. I'll be glad to share.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

I dunno. I am only looking for unusual ones, really huge, or colorful, I have some plain ditch ee's. I don't know what kind Syvia is referring to. I will gladly take one of yours just in case it is different from mine, or one I don't have, but it is not on my big list of really wanting, so don't go to any trouble please. So far my favorite one is the colocasia ilustris. That thing is just awesome to me.

The other person Sylvia is referring to is Ilovejesus (Sandy). She may really be wanting an EE. To me there are so many, it is hard to say I want an ee. That is like saying I want a rose to me. Who knows, I may be way off base, there may be a specific plant that is referred to as EE above all of the choices out there.

Charlene

Dallas, TX

Ohh Charlene, you did ask for an EE and I think because I told you mine was 8ft tall. I want one of those I saw at the Roundup! Was it called a Mickey Mouse EE or something like that? I am like you Charlene, I like the unusual too. There is one called Teacup ... pretty ... but dont waste your money.

Nobody recognizes my plant up there?

Magnolia, TX(Zone 8b)

Lorretta, I want that if you don't know what it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have the real MM - ees!!!!!!!!!
But they are not in full size yet! My ground is not warm enough yet!!!
But b/c I have a flooding problem fr next door, all of my many different kinds, are still small.
YKM!!!!!!!!!!

:~)

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

I wanted the 2 of the EE's Sheila has because they are the huge ones. Sheila you don't have the money to buy these so please don't do that for me. I was hoping to get them but I am not going to die if I don't get it.

I accidently gave my neighbor one I though was given to me and as it went I gave him one of the 2 I bought. I though they were the ones I got from madrid and it was so late and I was so tired I did not get any from her. I have been kicking myself since I did it. It is the only time I have given something away and truly regret it.

I was hoping to trade one of Silvia's to get it back. But I just have to learn from such stupid mistakes I do and let him keep it.

Buffalo, TX(Zone 8b)

Yup, Sylvia, if you mentioned that your ee got to be 8 feet tall, I would have certainly jumped on that. I love those monsters. It is still not worth your going out to buy one. Too many people on DG have babies to share and we will all eventually trade around to get whatever we want. That's the beauty of trading on DG.

Now, I don't have a MM either, so bring those babies on whoever is coming to Jacksonville.

Sandy, your neighbor's ee that you accidentally gave him will eventually give birth to babies and you will be able to ask for one I am sure. So, don't think of it as a loss, just think of it as a long term pregnancy. LOL

Charlene

Baytown, TX(Zone 9b)

lol Charlene. The 24 month pregnancy of an elephant. I just could not believe I gave the wrong one away. Oh well I guess there is next time. I will teach me to careful till the multiply. :o) I hope he shares he wants them to get very huge in a bunch.

Blessings,
Sandy

Fredericksburg, TX(Zone 8a)

You won't have to wait long for the MM ee's to reproduce. BTW Sheila told me they are not really ee's. Can't remember what she said they were.

Fort Worth, TX(Zone 8a)

LOL!....The "Sheila" you guys are discussing must not be me; I wasn't there. I did give pbtxlady, City_Sylvia, and patrob starts of my common EE a while back.

The Woodlands, TX(Zone 9a)

Sheila - You didn't make it this year either? We have GOT to be there at the same time some time soon, so these ladies can figure out who is who!!

I wasn't there this year, but in the past I have traded many MMEs. Maybe that's the confusion.

BTW, there are many plants in the Alocasia, Colocasia, and Xanthosoma genera that are commonly called EEs. Hence the confusion. I, personally, think of EEs as those huge plants that can hide a house. MMEs are Xanthosoma albo-marginata, and I don't think of MMEs as EEs. They are not invasive, but spread gradually into a larger clump. I love Colocasia 'Illustris", but that is a very invasive "EE". Many of the Alocasias are referred to as "African Masks" - because of the resemblance. And off the top of my head, I'm not sure what the botanical name is for those huge EEs... Have to check it out.

But I guess any plant whose leaves resemble an elephant's ear in shape, can be called an EE. Probably.
