Let me preface this by saying I am a complete garden newbie!
I'm growing some bush beans in a few containers. Anyone have any advice/recommendations regarding using inoculant for them? I plan to pull old plants out after 2-3 harvests and plant a new bean seed in it's place. Should I inoculate the new bean seeds before sowing? Do I add inoculant to the soil throughout the growing season?

I bought inoculant for my peas/beans this year. Hm.. it's still in the fridge and I have 60 plants growing. I'm not convinced it is needed. Shhh.. don't tell Mrs. Qinx, she wants it out of the fridge!
I used it in my EB, but since this is my first season for beans couldn't tell you if it was a help or not. At a buck a package I'd say just hedge your bet what do you have to lose?
Yeah it is pretty cheap, hmm? Do you soak your beans in it before sowing? Or do you sprinkle it on the dirt? How does it work!?

I don't soak my beans, although I know some people who do. I just stick a wooden spoon handle down in the pre-cut hole in the EB's cover and sprinkle in then plop a few beans on top and cover with dirt. Then I place an extra cover over the top until they germinate then take it off and guide the new seedling through it's individual slot.

I planted some seeds 2 weeks ago and they're growing like crazy! So maybe it's not too late after all :)
well i pulled the package of inocculant out yesterday. Im going to have at some beans today! Its worth a shot. Im glad this reminded me I had that.
Shoot, then I'm planting purple hulls tomorrow!
newgarden, just wanted to say that your beans look so beautiful! So green and healthy looking.
Almost cool enough to plant this afternoon. Im going with speckled butter beans that I got from Hemental last year. I could almost of boiled up those pretty things right out of the package. I am going with the sprinkle method of the inoculant...as the package calls it.
Thank you Pugzley! This is my first garden and I'm really pleased with the way the beans are going... I think they're the easiest thing I have growing in my garden. Tomatoes are such big fussy babies!
