My D's SO saw a picture of this and wants one, so I'm looking for seeds.
I have seeds of Purple Datura pictured below to trade, or see my trade list.
thanks

Looking for seeds, Brug sanguinea "Scarlet Angel Trumpet
Brugmansia sanguinea requires cool growing conditions. An ideal growing location would be a city that has similar temperatures as San Francisco. They do not bloom in temperatures above the early to mid 70s. They sicken and die in temperatures above the high 80s. Few people have been able to get their B. sanguinea to grow and even fewer individuals get their B. sanguineas to bloom. Now if you can provide an air conditioned greenhouse, you have a better than average chance of getting one to grow and bloom. Most of us who love this Brug have to be content looking at photos. I've killed a number of them. Ironically, I find them easier to germinate than the other Brugs. I can keep them alive until early to mid-May. Then they start dying sometimes literally overnight. I've given up trying to grow them.
If you have never grown Brugs before, I suggest you start with one that can handle your climate. It won't be red, but you'll have more success with it.
Bettydee what color do you suggest? Thank you!
There are so many great ones to choose from. Although the greater majority of my Brugs are pink (There are more pink than any other color.), I think my favorites are yellows and whites. There is an older thread that lists 10 of several DGer's favorites. The thread also tells why they were chosen.

It may help you decide on which Brugs to choose, but I think you should go with the color that appeals to you.
I have the "Milk and Honey" and a noid Peach that have done well. I'll tell D'SO about your advice on the sanguinea, thanks cause I was thinking of ordering seeds from ebay.
Is there a really really dark pink ?
The intensity of the color in Brugs is influenced by several things including weather so the color is not always the same in every flush. I was watering my Brugs yesterday afternoon and noticed that my Mountain Magic and L'Amour have several blooms each. The color on Mountain Magic is a very dark pink right now, but the flush it had in winter was much lighter. Since it's your DH that wants that really really dark pink Brug, have him go through the Brug photos in the PlantFiles to look for one he likes, but be sure he knows that the shade may very from flush to flush or he will be greatly disappointed. Also the shade can vary from state to state. Pinks usually much lighter in California especially near the coast. You might just luck out and get slightly darker blooms in Florida.
I have considered trying a sanguinea in my atrium.. gets plenty of light but is airconditioned and never gets above 80 at the hottest. Mostly in the mid 70's in the day time and cooler at night. That is where I winter all my larger brugs and plumerias. I think the plumerias are going to end up in the garage this year.. the brugs are going to push them out!
I'll tell him of the advice. I like to try to get things he seems particularly interested in as he is so very supportive of my gardening "obsessions" !
