This is one of the tulips I got in a DG co-op last fall.
I LOVE this bright orange/yellow tulip!
It just glows!
I've never had a tulip open up so open and flat.
Does anybody know what type of tulip this is?
Tulip 'Day Dreamer'
Is it 'Day Dream' or 'Day Dreamer'?. 'Day Dream' looks similar. It's a Darwin hybrid. Too funny cuz I was looking at them last night working on the fall orders.

I will re-look at the tag.
I plan to get more because most tulips seem to peter out on me after 1-2 seasons.
Are Darwin Hybrids good varieties to grow?
Where do you get your tulips from?

You're right...it is Day Dream and I'm definately going to try more Darwin hybrids. Thanks for the correct ID.
I read up on them a little bit and they are suppose to be the best for coming back especially if you feed them a couple of times.
Does anybody know what's the best fertilizer to feed them and when the best time to apply it?
I find Darwin Hybrids some of the best for returning. Love those Daydream! I usually use bone meal in the fall when I'm planting, then scatter some around in early spring when they're just starting to emerge too- that is, the years I think to do it.
Hey Neal all my lilies are coming up nicely this Spring.
Can't wait to see how they do this year!
I will try to get some bonemeal on the Tulips.
Ditto to gemini re: bone meal. I also sprinkle them right after they finish blooming.
Oh yay!..You've got Lilies to look forward to! The 2nd year is when they really start doing their thing, gotta see pics when those blooms arrive :-)
Yes I'm very excited to see how they do this year!
Will keep you posted.
