CLOSED: CLOSED: Have: Cyperus papyrus

I am clearing out my pond and have removed all my papyrus. I am looking for unusual houseplants/succulent pot plants, african violets or orchids or?. Could do a larger size trade if you like but these things do grow fast.

Which cultivar? Is it the dwarf?

I don't know the cultivar but it gets very large 6 foot or more.

Xeramtheum.. I have some tiny ones of these.. they start from the tops.. I bought them last year as "Mini Umbrella Palms" They were just a few inches tall twigs when I got them.. I put them in my potting shed for the winter... and look at them now. They are producing little new "twigs" at the tops that easily root when pulled off.

Edited to say.. these seem to be about 2 to 3 ft tall

Thank you, that is Misty... my 10 year old... I have 2 more.. Shiloh, her daughter and Sky, Shilohs first cousin.. all in the family! Both of them are 8. One happy family. All black and will lay in the hot sun all day if I let them! Crazy!

Your dog IS cute but he needs some bigger cyperus to lie under. Somebody needs to take this stuff before I throw it out:)

will the bigger stuff grow in damp ground instead of water? My mother has an area that gets watered a lot but no standing water... this stuff I have wants standing water so it wont grow there.

is this someone else's plant trading thread? i am so sorry for butting in but i saw lhasa and i just thought of something i wanted to tell you......... i bet you could grow arilbred iris. now i'm outta here and yall can go back to what you were talking about before. just more evidence of my btb.

Lhasalover, You could just water it daily and it would be fine. It is virtually indestructable, kind of like an army tank. It will spread so it should not be put in an area where you don't want a lot of it as it would be very hard to remove. It would look good in big pots at an entrance way as it would look dramatic and showy. Don't know how much cold it tolerates though.

What is "arilbred" iris?
