My husband brought home these big black drain pipe pieces that were going to be thrown away. He was going to use them somehow in the lake to hold fish ( bass fisherman ) but I talked him out of them thinking they would be great to grow in. Do yall think it will work? I have 2 with tomotato's in them . I am going to put squash in some and cucumbers in some. I thought I would put some mulch half way up for squash and cucumbers and fill rest way up with potting soil. Then maybe some other things that I would like to plant outside in warm time of yr but would need to be brought in for winter.

Sounds great to me... but remember the color will intensify the heat of the sun.
should I spray paint them, if so what color?
Some light color...
Darius,
Remember I once told you how you spoke whole volumes with so very few words? Priceless!
I wish I would have clicked on this thread yesterday! I made wooden squares to go around a few of my herbs, so I could plant them directly in the ground and yet weedeat around them - if that makes any sense. Drainpipe circles would have been easier!
Gymgirl, you are too funny!
I have a 20 foot section of the same type of drain pipe. I plan on cutting them into 2 foot sections and burying them in the ground. I'm going to use them to plant agressive plants that I don't want to get out of control, like horseradish, jeruselem artichoke, etc. Should help to keep them under control.
