You all know how much fun I have photographing and watching frogs. Today was no exception.
I was out working on the pond when I spied Melvin in the corner of my eye. ( I just gave him his name today)
He was up on a rock at the bottom of the falls soaking up some sun.
The adventures of Mama and Melivin
Of course my camera was in my office. I ran inside to get it and thank goodness he was still there when I got back. I wanted to get a picture of his face so I went around to the back of the falls, carefully climbed up to the top and took several shots without scaring him. This is no easy feat for a middle aged woman with bad knee's. Trying not to crush plants is another. Well I was walking down the falls to get even closer when all of a sudden....
Melvins front shot.

BIG MAMA jumped from underfoot and into the pond. What a splash! She scared the daylights out of me. Composed myself, then without killing myself or breaking my neck I scrambled to the other side of the pond to find BIG MAMA! She swam to the side of the pond, right below where Melvin was sunning and the curly rush grows.

Hello. Big Mama got up close and personal with the blue fairy! I thought the fairy would be scared, but she enjoyed a bit of chit-chat in the sunshine. I could not hear what they were talking about, but my guess would be boys!

Brilliant!
Nice Pics!
Wonderful, Bea! Thanks for inviting us to your tale.
I love frogs and envy you your little community. Nice story, B.
Good job. Your water feature is great.
Bea, What a wonderful Froggy/Fairy tale! I have so enjoyed your frog pictures, but this was over the top! What a wonderful experience for you to be there to witness it first hand!
I saw this the other night, and you and your Big Mama immediately popped into my head. Had been meaning to search for it and share it with you for a chuckle, but this thread motivated me to do it.
Thanks for putting a smile on my face this afternoon!

RJ. I have seen this commercial and it reminds me so much of Mama. Her size is about the same. It was so neat having this all happen before my eyes today. Maybe I should invest in a video camera.!! Can you picture her hopping down the red carpet on Oscar night! LOL!
There are some inexpensive video cameras out there now designed for the youtube crowd:
I have the Kodak (which has video and sound and takes still photos, as well - though you need to have a steady hand):

And I'm sure there are others.
Bea I love your photo story of Big Mama and Melvin. The look on Melvin's face at the end is priceless! He does look almost as though he is ready to upchuck. LOL
I didn't think frogs could have expressions, boy was I wrong!! Wonderful Bea!
What can I say...but awesome!!! I am anxiously awaiting a second installment in this edge-of-your-seat-drama. (Hint, hint ;-)).
That was just delightful! You could create a children's book using your two froggies and their adventures! :)
That's a great idea! They have such personality.
What a wonderful way to start a morning! With a smile and a chuckle! Thanks BeaHive
I was captivated by the tale, and can't wait for another adventure.
I smile every time I see the picture of the conversation about boys between Mama and The Blue Fairy.
