Regarding planting by the moon, here’s a true story about my grandparents in Kentucky, back around 1942…..
Dad told me that he remembers one spring, after gathering saplings for making tripods for pole beans to grow up, my Papaw (whose name was Everett), and Dad’s brothers, began planting [ACRES] of pole beans. While doing so, my Granny (whose name was Ada), who was upset, came out to where they guys were planting and told Everett, “Everett, you’re not suppose to plant the beans today, the moon isn’t right for planting beans!!” Everett replied, “Ada, I don’t care about the moon, I’m planting my beans today! Now, get back to the house and leave me alone!” So, Granny angrily marched back to the house and left Everett and the boys alone. …Dad said that year, they had the most beautiful pole bean plants they had ever had. Each tripod was covered with lush green leaves and covered with flowers – they were perfection! ….Then…..Dad told me, “You know, after all that, Dad never got 1 bean off all those acres of beans!! Not 1 bean!! ….Ada told Everett, “I told you the moon wasn't right for planting beans!” Everett didn’t say a word.
…..Now, I’m by no means an expert in agriculture, but it is very apparent that God has a “Divine Order” to everything He created. Roses love Garlic, Corn loves pumpkins, animals make manure which fertilizes the soil - which grows food for the animals – which make more manure, the tide comes in and out by which some sea creatures lay their eggs, etc., and on and on, the examples are endless. I also know that my Papaws and Grannies, and generation upon generation of farmers who came before them planted by the “light of the moon”, and my Dad swears by it. So, in honor of them and their wisdom – and those who came before them. I too will plant by the “light of the moon”. :)
True story re: planting by the light of the moon!
Great story, Glenda!
I don't know if I told this story on this forum or not... but if I did, forgive the repeat. My neighbor, who is about 65 has lived on this street most of his life. At one time, he took care of some cattle for his uncle, and always hated weaning the calves due to the incessant bawling for what seemed days on end.
One year a visiting friend told him he needed to wean when the signs were "below the knees"... apparently Buster had never been exposed to the signs. Well, he did as his friend suggested, not thinking it would help but willing to humor his friend...once. But to his surprise, the calves bawled about 10 minutes max... then shut up. He became an instant believer!
I became a believer when I had to have a tooth pulled... just after I had read my first moon signs book. I am a bleeder when a tooth is pulled, and I remembered something in the book about surgery and/or dental work. I re-read it, and scheduled my extraction for the right sign. I barely bled enough to prevent a dry socket!
This year I am trying to do everything by the signs, and I'm keeping better records.
What do you mean signs 'below the knees'?
I had to look it up several years ago... there is a drawing of DaVinci's Vitruvian Man overlaid with all the signs but I cannot locate it...
All the astrological signs are associated with some human body part(s):
* Aries -- the head
* Taurus -- the neck and throat
* Gemini -- the lungs, arms, and shoulders
* Cancer -- the chest, breasts, and stomach
* Leo -- the heart and upper back
* Virgo -- the abdomen and digestive system
* Libra -- the kidneys and lumbar region
* Scorpio -- the genitals
* Sagittarius -- the hips and thighs
* Capricorn -- the knees and bones
* Aquarius -- the calves, shins, and ankles
* Pisces -- the feet
So, a sign "below the knees" would be Aquarius or Pisces...
Thanks Darius, I am familair with moon gardening but never knew about the signs.
