Can somebody tell what it was? Had a long, super ear piercing call. Wouldn't let me get close enough for a decent photo, this is super-cropped...he liked the very top of trees and made me follow him around a field.
CLOSED: lousy picture....but?
It is a Meadowlark...they really sing loud!
Thank you!! I liked his "bib" as well as his song...
Ontario is in the overlap zone where both Eastern Meadowlark and Western Meadowlark occur - unfortunately, no way of telling which this one is without much better photos!
Resin
I googled them, learned the best way to tell the difference was the song...listened to both songs and firmly believe I saw and heard the Eastern Meadowlark...very cool!!!
First one I've seen.
I also have learned I need a MUCH better camera!!!
Excellent!
Great work using the song for the ID threegardeners. There is a very rare Western Meadowlark (for PA) in a field shared with Easterns in a nearby county. It is a good thing the songs are so different, otherwise this rare vagrant would have gone unnoticed.
It is very cool threegardeners. Thanks for sharing.
