CLOSED: Ducks...Geese?

Not a great pic but wondering what these guys are...I thought they were geese at first but I noticed the yellow bill and that through me off.

Cormorants.

Cormorants - was this picture taken near water?

Clay they were flying over my house, the nearest large area of water is about 5 miles away.

Well, they do fly, needless to say, both to migrate, and to get from one body of water to another, as often as they see the need, LOL!

Just wondering...I guess that any wintering Great Cormorants would be long gone by now, so these are probably Double-crested Cormorants.

I have to start using the preview button! I was just reading about their migration, they don't stray far from water. I used to see them all the time, but not around Philly. I don't get near the river too often, though.

Yep, Double-crested Cormorants - the orange is too bright for Great Cormorant.

Cormorants often fly long distances between lakes, not too surprising to see them just about anywhere overland. Actually much rarer to see them any distance offshore - they're almost never seen on pelagic trips out into the oceans.
