Their getting so big!!

(Arlene) Southold, NY(Zone 7a)

Yes, they are!

South/Central, FL(Zone 9a)

Bumping this thread, it fell off the 1st page. : )

Right now.... they have a note below the cam....The T-1 line which transmits the Eagle Cam image to the Internet is down, part of a larger outage in this part of the United States. We will have camera back online as soon as possible.

Marlton, NJ

Did everyone see these shots of an immature BE coming in close to the nest? The parents sprung into action.

Orchard Park, NY

That's amazing. Look at those pin feathers! Where are the parents? I'd be watching my back.

Melbourne, FL

I was wondering if that immature Eagle could have been one of theirs returning for a visit? Do they ever do that?

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

I was wondering the same thing about that immature adult.
And...check out those feet and talons in that last picture of the man holding the Eaglet!!
Arggh!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

They have gotten so big now!! They were stretching and working their wings ...and one was perched on edge of the nest across from the cam!

Melbourne, FL

The blog says the night vision is working now, and that on the 20th, one of the Eaglets will be fitted with a transmitter.

Marlton, NJ

Their really looking like eagles now.

Melbourne, FL

I was just reading a story about how well Eagles have come back. So well that they are causing a decline in seabird populations. A lot of Eagles are switching their diets from fish to seabirds, eating babies and adults too. Some of those species are now endangered.

Melbourne, FL

Anybody able to catch this...tomorrow at 10am they will be attaching a transmitter to one of the babies. I can see it now.

Just finished. I really hope they don't need to bother them anymore. Everytime I see these three healthy birds it seems amazing to me that they have done so well...and they are so well behaved!

Dover AFB, DE(Zone 7a)

How funny that she was asleep during most of the procedure! Is that a response to the hood covering her eyes or do scientists just bore her to snores? ;-)

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

LOL Juney!!

Melbourne, FL

I have not seen these birds at feeding time recently....are they feeding themselves at all yet?

Marlton, NJ

Oh definitely! A little earlier I saw one eating for quite a while.

Marlton, NJ

Bump!

This is the current thread on the Eagles.

Did everyone see the slide show of them putting the tracking harness on one of them?

Bella Vista, AR(Zone 6b)

Very cool-- today the camera pulled way back to show the entire tree top. The branches will be perfect for the eaglets learning to fly from limb to limb. I watched one of them stretch his wings and "fly" across the nest. Like watching a toddler learning to walk.

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

The tracking harness slides were so interesting. i was amazed that she fell asleep during the application. That hood and artificial darkness must have really turned her clock around!
today I could see the antenna on her back from the transmitter. ..very interesting indeed!
I saw the wing stretching, flapping and hopping across the nest also. This is all so very interesting!!
Thank you so much Pelle for posting this site for us!!

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Love all the wing flapping and hopping around!

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

OMG - I think the female eaglet with the monitor has a problem!! She was laying flat on her belly in the center of the nest and the for quite a few minutes, then the camera zoomed in on her. her back showed that she was breathing very rapidly and then she shook her head twice and then the movement of her back stopped. After a few moments the camera went to black.
All 3 birds had been eating and flaping & hopping I did not see her lay down, so I do not know what happpened.......Well I guess we'll kno in the morning now. She laid like that for a very long time and now I believe the camera is dark for the night........
I do hope she is OK

All are alive and well...as far as I can tell.

PERTH, Australia

I've been catastrophising because the site has come up black even though I knew it was daylight over in West Virginia. Two of the young'uns were flapping and flying all over the nest, but the third one just lay there, not moving. I've just now seen all three up and moving about just fine. Whew!!

Winston Salem, NC(Zone 7a)

I am so glad that they all are Oik. A few of us on the eaglets chat were all worried...for naught though ^_^ Guess they just play hard and rest hard to..just like kids!

Melbourne, FL

I have not turned this on to catch them eating in weeks....what do the parents do now? Just leave the fish?

Marlton, NJ

Yes that looks to be it.

just saw the one that is standing yawn twice.

Melbourne, FL

That must be a sight...them all battling over the fish. But they are such well-behaved birds, maybe they handle that nicely also.

Marlton, NJ

Nice closeup of one of the Eaglets right now.

Putnam County, IN(Zone 5b)

Just coming to post the same thing....One 'branched' yesterday!! The babies are growing up...

Melbourne, FL

That's the first time I have seen one of the parents in weeks.

Melbourne, FL

I only see two Eaglets...other must be branching. They need to widen the view now so we can see the action to come.

Marlton, NJ

I see all 3 now.

Melbourne, FL

I wish they could find a way to clean that camera lens. One Eagle was just flapping and lifting off the nest....I bet they will be trying flight very soon.

Marlton, NJ

They are really exercising their wings!

Melbourne, FL

I did not realize that blob on the lens is a spider......they say two weeks till take-off, but sure looks like they will be leaving sooner the way they are practicing.
