I don't grow hibiscus anymore but there are some on ebay right now that are magnificent looking for 9.95 each in a 41/2" pot..........great selection. He is not a friend, I promise.....but they don't have an audience for some reason. His ebay user name is plant-maniac and is actually David Thompson, the best hybridizer that we have in the US for streptocarpus. I think you can search under streptocarpus as well as hibiscus. The auction is over tonight I believe.
Gail (I grow streps)
Want some fabulous hibiscus for good prices?
Hey Gail
I bought my first tropical hibiscus this year at Bloomer's and hope to go back and see what others cultivars they have some time this weekend.
Where have you been hanging out on DG? Haven't seen you in awhile.
Patty
I am getting rid of every single plant on the front porch, Patty!! The winds have been blowing in excess of 40 mph every day for months now.....all that hard work of hanging baskets you helped me with have all been knocked to the ground. The screws fell out of the hardy plant and plywood behind that.
Be careful buying hibiscus at Bloomer's. I bought 12 in the fall and they were infested with white flies and I never got rid of them over the winter..............gave them away about a month ago. You wouldn't have wanted them.
Ask him what they have done about the whiteflies before you buy...........
Good to see you online!
Do you know if he has a website? I would love to buy or trade for a couple of hibiscus. Are the white flies in the soil or what?
David Thompson doesn't have a website............neither does Bloomer's.............if I weren't so busy right now, I would consider going over and buying you some and sending to you............but it is 40 minutes away and I am not going over there anytime soon..............
DT is on ebay with the user ID listed in an above post...
