Hello,
I searched and did not find anything on this topic so thought I would post here. I have quite a few daffodils that have some nice fat seed pods and would like to try and start some seeds. Can anyone tell me how to do that?
Thanks,
Susan
Starting daffodils from seed
Hi Again,
I did Google this and got some interesting info. Of course of the 3 different sites I found there were 3 different ways to start daff seeds. But what was the most interesting is that if the seeds are from hybrids you may get a variety that is from one of the parents. Cool!
Does anyone have any experience starting daff seeds?
i've never even seen a daffodil seed. all of them don't have seeds do they?
No I don't think they all make seeds, but I got some nice seed pods full of seeds off of some of mine this year so I am going to start them in the Fall in my greenhouse.
Ian Young recommends planting seed at a 5 cm depth

susan which variety gave you seed pods?
I am not good with variety names but the one I got the most seeds from was a white with peach colored trumpet. I have them waiting in my greenhouse and will plant them in trays in Fall. It is fun trying this stuff.
