Must be hardy. I would prefer white.
My pond is 6 foot round, and I have several depths in it.
something with a TINT of cream or pinkish would be OK. but near white.
I do not have any water plants, and I have no idea what I am doing with that.
Is my pond big enough for more than one variety of water plant?
I have goldfish in it.
reccomendations for a water lily
about 1 foot, 2 foot and then 3 feet.
mmm that is pretty, but does it get too large do you think?
a smaller spread would be ok, but is the flower the same size if the plant is smaller?
Yes typically smaller varieties have smaller blooms. Tetragona has very small blooms.
Gonnere would be just fine in a pond your size.
I have been known to pinch back pads to make things fit if needed just be sure not to pinch back more than 1/2 at a time and you should be fine.
I don't have a pix of Walter Pagels but you might want to google. It's a nice water lily with a small spread but the blooms are larger than some smaller spread lilies. Not the clean white like Gonnere though but more a creamy white with a pinkish tint.
Hermine is a nice white with a sm-med spread too.
Good luck you should be able to easily find a white for sale because for some reason alot of folks seem to prefer colors over whites.
ok thanks for the tips I will look those up.
I have a tropical semi-dwarf in a small (6ft by 4ft) pond. I also put in some oxygenating plant and a dwarf cattail. I guess it depends on how much water you want to have showing, but personally I wouldn't put multiple water lilies in such a small space. I put in just the one, and it looks proportionally ok. Mine is blue, which I like very much. A dwarf is a good idea in general so the spread won't be so bad. My flowers are about 3 inches wide at most. Hope that helps. I added a picture for reference.
I agree with BonnieIN re: Gonnere - it sounds perfect for the surface area of your pond and it's probably the loveliest white.
BonnieIN - OT, but do you grow Barbara Dobbins? That was my all-time favorite when I had a large collection.
