Who is this lovely? New in the backyard today.
CLOSED: I've got a new one!
A flycatcher, possibly ash-throated flycatcher, but I can't check the books right now (and this group tends to have some fairly subtle differences).

It's a Great Crested Flycatcher - hopefully it will stick around, they're a lot of fun to watch when they nest nearby.
Altagardener, we cross-posted... you're right, there are a number of very similar birds, but in Alabama this is very likely to be the Great Crested Flycatcher.
Thank you for all your help. I love their song! Just looked it up and I'm delighted.
One more vote for Great Crested Flycatcher!
Ash-throated isn't so bright yellow below, and is also a western American species (central TX west to the Pacific).
Resin
Thanks Resin. :-)
Kim they like a box just a little bigger than a Blue Bird Box. I have them nest in my yard at my old home and this one. Their box fell off the tree here and it went under water with the flooding pond so they have been going in and out of the Wood Duck box over by where their nest box was last year. Really need to get DH to get it back up now that it is dry out
Thanks Donna, I'll be looking out for possible new nest boxes.
Titmice like just a little smaller than a Blue Bird box. How do I know these things you ask???? My DH is so not a carpenter but it worked out great. Using different thickness of wood than the original boxes makes them larger with thinner wood or smaller with thicker wood for the inside demensions. Just get your hubby to make you a couple
Sounds like a good weekend project for the both of us. Thanks Donna.
