Excellent, Commander. What is your ETC (estimated time of completion)?

Ferndale, WA

ZZ's I love my girls, and I love those new blues of yours. I clicked on your blog this morning and it came up just fine. My Jaw's were so sore last night from laughing I just to bed. Those babiez are are incredible. I did not know you were hatching blues, and also those lavenders. Incredible colors. Haystack

Sorry about the typo's, I still haven't recovered completely from last night. My wife said ZZ's was keeping me up to lateLOL. Just Kidding EVERYBODY lest I be misunderstood. Haystack

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

LMBO Haystack... That is tooo funny! I know I am quite "flighty" when my babiez are hatching.... I'm glad my DMAILS entertain you... That too helps to put the brakes on run away imaginations.. LOL

We are up to 11 now.. 5 of 6 lavender eggs hatched. 7 of 9 blues hatched.. I think I'm done.. but I won't take them out till Saturday. There are only 3 eggs left. Oh.. do I have to mention there are 5 Dutch Bantam and one Modern Game due tomorrow? Or can I just pretend I am in total control and am not hatching any more DBs..

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

CPO Moxon arriving late...other duties kept me from attending....secret duties.....can't be disclosed....you know the drill.

Am most excited about the new launch. Where is the TWT squad?

Woot woot babies!

Los Gatos, CA

ZZ- How many Chickens do you have in total? I have been reading some other threads and I have lost count. Do you have chickens for the eggs? You really seem to enjoy them so much. Congratulations on the chicks!

I am just starting out and have only four, but I am really having fun. I have all hens, so no chicks for me......but, maybe in the future.

Dacula, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh, babies. So adorable. I love the blues. My chicks are a week old now and have grown so much. I can't wait until they grow up so I can hatch again (don't tell DH.)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

CPO Moxon, My t shirt was substituted for TWT in creating a "pouch" to carry 2 wet wobbly wut wuts that just went in the brooder...
I am in big trouble cause they all hatched together..(blue/black/splash & Lavender split) I hope I can tell when they dry, but I'm afraid I won't know which came from the lavender batch... :( I think one is pure lavender, I can't tell yet.

Images.. I don't count. That is too scary. I just have a bunch. Some are here for eating eggs, some are for hatching eggs, some are being rehomed to make room for the new blue flock. :) Some are just too cute and have to stay. I do love them all, and enjoy them as often as I can. I am guilty of overdoing it.. and had to "regroup" which was hard.

Mother Bird reporting 2 DB pips.. First of our own.

Mother Bird also reporting Molly hatched one of her own.. pics soon I hope.

(SACID) Special Agent of the chick inspection division reporting late. Life forms are absolutely chicks! 100% on the cutness factor. 100% on the "I am gonna steal your heart then take over the planet" factor.

Pearl is beautiful!!! I am off to Boston so I wont be on for three days. Best wishes in your hatch and congrats on the life forms who have emerged! :)

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

What am I to do for three days then Sewin!!?? LOL We'll leave the light on for ya.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Mother Bird Reporting... 4 Dutch Bantams went to Lodi HQ for a secret mission.. 5th DB labeled "late" is not due yet.
One Modern Game was a dud.

Molly's second egg I rescued is a pullet. :)

"Black" Lodi training center reports trainee DB's doing well....Secret Operative "Calypso" appeared briefly after DB drop off then went dark again.

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

Was Secret Operative "Calypso" still flying solo? LOL

Molly's last pullet is a typical Barnevelder pullet. Not the least bit concerned with all the drama of meal worms... it's just too much bother. She strolls around.. eats, drinks and sleeps. Totally oblivious to all the chatter and uproar. I wish I could be so calm.

The 11 assorted blues are doing well. One has such big muffs, it has to do the hunt and peck thing to find the water. It cannot see the ground! Maby when it's neck stretches out a little, it will be easier.. lil thing looks like it has a serious double chin. LOL

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

The little tiny solid black baby is crowing! I'm not hearing things.. Catscan is my witness! LOL

Social Circle, GA(Zone 8a)

Whew. Purdy.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

OK, you're delusional, we have to call in the men in white coats again....sigh....

Lodi, CA(Zone 9b)

No!! Really! I am totally all here.. that lil buggar stands up and crows! It's too cute! Catscan heard it..

Catscan.. where are you??????? Tell em! Tell em what you heard and saw!!

Lodi, United States

I must support my fellow Lodite. I was sitting watching the turkey poults when there is this little whistle sound. ZZ says it is the little black Ameraucana crowing. I say, "Uh hun." Being tactful and all. But I do notice that the little puffball has lifted his head and pushed out his fluffy chest in a distinctly rooish way. A few minutes later--ZZ says, "Did you hear it?" and I look and he is in that funny position again. The third time I saw and heard the whole thing. It is a tiny black newly hatched chick that is crowing. No doubt about it.

She better keep an eye on that lad.

Ferndale, WA

That is the funniest thing I have ever heard of, yet I believe you. It must be in the water. ZZ's you gotta get a pic of him crowing. Hay

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

Uh-huh. I think you both have a serious case of chick-induced hallucinatory spring-itis. It's OK, you don't have to be embarrassed, it's quite common at this time of year. Just have a cool drink (lemonade of course), sit in front of a fan for a while, try not to think about chicks. Feel the serenity....

(seriously ZZ, you MUST get this on video!!)

Dacula, GA(Zone 7b)

Oh my, a crowing infant! When do they usually start crowing? All of mine are just cheeping at 2 weeks.

Lodi, United States

I think the crowing thing is pretty variable, I've had some start at four weeks--they sound like they are strangling--stop and then start again later. Most seem to start between 3 and six months. But again, if you have a dominant roo, sometimes the others won't crow in his presence. This makes getting rid of crowing roos frustrating--everytime I find a home for one, another starts. One I had was happily crowing, then stopped when he had the tar beat out of him by another roo.

My first chicks from a hatchery were supposed to be four pullets--one by one as I re-homed a crowing one, the next would start. It was very hard, because three didn't start until they were over 5 months old and I was very attached. I still miss "Daisy". I lost a whole year of chickens to crowing.

ZZ's baby is definitely crowing--the posture and behaviour is exactly dead on. It will be interesting to see if he is in fact a muy macho roo.

Oxford, NS(Zone 5b)

He must be so precocious because he's Californian....(giggle)

Elbridge, NY(Zone 5a)

Oh wow!! Look what I missed. Man, I would love to see that little chick crowing. I have had some whirrrrrr... before but never with a crow stance. I agree, I'd keep my eyes on that one!! Awesome ZZ and Cat!! I am not seeing updated photos though. Is my computer broken?? hmmmm... nope seems fine. (Just kidding) (just dropping subtle hints.) hehehe Thanks for keeping the light on though, I darn near stubbed my toe on the coffe table again. Its good to be back. LOL
