This is an example of a new leaf on my subcalva.
The veins are distinctively pink.
Is it normal or a deficiency?
New Leaf on Subcalva
Alison,
Your subcalva leaf looks pretty but I think its a deficiency like you suspect.

Thanks for telling me. I may have to change fertilizer.
Or maybe just open a newer container!
I use Dyna Grow, but it was last years bottle.
Alison...in my experience, H. subcalva likes to put out wierd leaves at times. Mark will agree. For a long time I got lots of those kinds of leaves on all my subcalva...but now, they seem to have grown out of it....or the conditions that affected it aren't there now. I wouldn't worry about it. It tends to be kinda fussy!
It's true, I got a lot of weird leaves like that, and never could get any subcalva I had to grow. Finally gave up, and just enjoy the flowers other people post.
Maybe something to do with temps.
Well, good to know I'm not alone!
If it could have to do with temps, my guess would be temp
change. We just turned pretty hot; however, it went straight
from greenhouse to outdoors which right now is not much
of a change.
We'll let it grow on and see how it goes.
The new leaves on my H. subcalva did the same with no pink...just really light green. I thought it was from the colder winter we had but now I see it may be a normal occurrance?
All the new growth now looks like the rest of the plant though.
