Thank you all for the warm welcome! I have appreciated the wealth of information on DG and look forward to learning lots more. I moved to Traverse City 5 years ago from Northern Ohio. In Ohio I was a stay at home, homeschooling Mom with time to garden ( organic veggie, perennials, roses). I forced myself not to garden in TC until now. I was busy re-establishing a career and starting my own business. Now things have settled down and I am starting new perennial gardens. I love lilies, japanese irises, anything true blue and my passion ...English Delphiniums. I currently have 160 delphinium seedlings growing in spinach containers on my deck. Winter sowing works like a charm.... I had never tried it before and am AMAZED at the results. I have no idea how to post photos but will work on that and will share when appropriate.

Thanks again for the warm welcome!

Actually winter sowing is so easy, and it really works. Check out the forum here in Dave's to learn how to do it.

Thanks Deann for your offer to teach me how to post photos. I will let you know when I have something worth sharing. I am a physical therapist and I started my own practice in October of 2006. Keeps me busy and off the streets and provides funds for my hobbies.
I have a question. I currently have a kitchen full of asiatic lilies that I rescued from Sam's Club in March. They were beginning to sprout and I couldn't let them die..... If I plant them deeper than the pot they are in will they develop roots along the stem and is that helpful to them?
It is finally getting nice here and it feels so good to play in dirt again!

Hello and welcome Mrsblueberry,
Yes that will be just fine. Just putting them in an inch or so lower will be fine.
The time to plant them is now! i would put some bone meal in the hole additionally to support the bulb for next years blooms!
I do love lilies! I see you do too!
We already have something in common!
Hope you have fun here.

Follow Jazzy's instructions, that is what I would have said to do as well....

Lilies are in. Hope we get some of the rain they have been promising. It is dry as a bone around here.

Thanks for the advice!
Lis
